What do you love about the Global Trader Drak Challenge?
The clean water, and the amazing experience of paddling through all the different valleys and gorges.

Describe your favourite memory at the event.
Doing my first Drak about 5 years ago, it was a really full year and I paddled the entire race without putting a scratch on my boat.

What is the funniest ting that has ever happened to you on the river?
I was tripping down the river the day before the race, was half way through the rapid when I hit an eddie and spun out, I was stuck in the eddie going round in circles for about 5 minutes while a stream of paddlers came past and issued some verbal jarring towards my predicament.

Why do you choose to enter the Global Trader Drak Challenge?
No matter what the water level is, you are guaranteed to have loads of fun.

Which spots on the river do you watch out for?
The first 5km from the start are vitally important, almost comparable to a rollercoaster ride, getting ahead or finding open water is the hardest part at this stage, and traffic is always a big problem.
Then there is Black Murray, always tons of fun, and Glen Haven, its enough of an adrenalin rush to carry you through to the finish on the longer 2nd day.

Which is your favourite rapid / obstacle?
The first 5km of the first day. It's pretty much were the race is won or lost.

What is your best result competing in the Global Trader Drak Challenge?
2nd place overall, and 1st Junior in 2008.

Will you be entering this year’s race and what are your goals?
I will definitely be entering this years race, and with it being the SA K1 Champs, I will definitely be trying for the SA Title.

What advice could you give novice paddlers on the river?
Aim to arrive there early enough the day before, going for a trip down the river will help you learn the lines for the race the next day and will also help ease the nerves and allow you to get a good night’s sleep.

When I’m not paddling on the Global Trader Drak Challenge weekend
I’m either training, studying, or counting down the days until the next GT Drak Challenge.
