Race
Rules:

The race
is for K1 canoes which conform in all ways to CSA specifications.
Racing rules are those of CSA as well as the local rules applicable
on the day. K2 entries are also accepted.

All
advertising must be in accordance with CSA rules.

The race
committee’s decision will be final & the club, or the committee,
accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury, or death
resulting from the race. The race committee has the authority to
cancel the race or change the venue should conditions justify it,
and to enforce the wearing of helmets and life jackets. Their
decision will be final. In the event of the race being cancelled, no
refunds will be made. The organisers warn that details are subject
to change at short notice subject to conditions.
Competitors must obey all instructions from the race marshals.
Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
Race Information
When, Where & Course
Day 1 – Saturday 21st 2012, 8h00 Start at Castleburn bridge
to Swartberg bridge 26km, there are no compulsory portages.
Day 2 – Sunday 22nd January 2012, 7h00 Start at Swartbridge
Bridge to Hopewell farm, 39km. Depending on water conditions certain
weirs/rapids may be made compulsory portages.

Registration
Registration, race info & goody bags/T shirts at Underberg School on
Friday, 20st January from 14h00 to 21h00. Paddler
s who do not
register on Friday must go straight to start of the race and will be
checked in at the boat pounds. Goody bags must then be collected at
Underberg School on Saturday 21st Jan between 18h00 to 20h00 only.
Goody bags/T shirts cannot be collected on Sunday.
Where to stay
Camping (first come ,first served basis) at Underberg School,
payable at entrance. Adults R50 pppn, Children (under 13) R25pppn.
Gates will open at 9h00 on Friday 20th January.

Meals
Underberg School will provide meals as follows:
Friday night from 18h00 to 21h00; Saturday morning from 05h30 to
08h00 at Underberg School and the start from 08h00.
Saturday lunch/dinner from 11h00 onwards; Sunday morning from 05h30
to 08h00 at Underberg School and at the start from 07h00.
Saturday Night Party
Marquee at Underberg School 18h00 till late. Live music, cash bar &
food available. Loads of prizes including lucky draw for K1 kayak. You have to be there in person to win.
Prize-giving
This will take place at Race finish on Hopewell farm at 13h00.
Prizes predominantly for K1 paddlers. Centurion prizes (top 100
K1’s) at 12h00. Lucky draw for K1 at end of prize-giving (you have
to be there to win). Race memento for all finishers.
