The 2009 Global Trader Drak Challenge has a superb organizational team behind it. The GTX Canyon Canoe Club has appointed a committee that looks after the race as a whole, consisting of local club members, sponsors and professional organisers. In 2009, the event employed the services of professional event consultants, Impi Concept Events. Impi Concept Events helped in the formalization of the 2009 event, in particular the building of relationships with the respective sponsors. June 2009 saw the company sign the sponsorship deals with Global Trader and the N3TC, allowing the event to develop and work towards its goal of achieving the status of the Best Canoe race in SA.
