Day 2

Taylors Weir

Ten minutes from the start of Day Two the river winds towards the Taylors farm "The Banks", which you can recognise from the farmhouse, sheds, and invariably huge herb of cows on the left hand bank. The weir is recognisable by the pumphouse on the left hand bank, and should be approached in one of two ways, depending on the water level.

This was shot at a medium-full level, and shows the best line straight over the weir, one meter from the left hand side of the wall. The line out of the rapid is also straight forward.

At a low level two concrete columns are visible on the weir wall. Approach the weir just left of the left hand pillar and slide over the weir wall pointing 45 degrees right. This is to put you onto the best line between the rocks below the weir, and to minimise the stress on the boat. If you shoot it straight you WILL hurt your boat, and it often folds slimline boats at the cockpit
